Vintage Gear Table Clock - Antique Brass | Online8 New Zealand
A table clock shaped like an oversized vintage alarm clock, with an antique brass case, an arched carry handle on top and two turned feet below. The aged cream dial carries black Arabic numerals with a second 13–24 hour ring inside them, and a cluster of exposed brass gears sits open at the centre. At 340mm tall it is a mantel or shelf piece rather than a bedside clock.
Why It Stands Apart
- Exposed gear centre: Brass cogs sit open behind the hands, so the mechanism becomes the decoration.
- Arched carry handle: A brass loop across the top, flanked by two posts, gives it the silhouette of an old wind-up alarm clock.
- Aged cream dial: Softly foxed and off-white rather than bright, so it looks collected rather than newly bought.
- 24-hour inner ring: A second set of numerals from 13 to 24 runs inside the main hour ring, a detail borrowed from railway and military clocks.
- Turned feet: Two small brass feet tilt the face slightly upward, so it reads properly from a seated height.
- Mantel scale: 240mm wide and 340mm tall — substantial enough to hold a mantel or shelf on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions
How big is it?
240mm wide and 340mm tall — a mantel-sized piece, considerably larger than a typical bedside clock.
Does it stand on its own?
Yes. It sits on two turned brass feet, which angle the face slightly upward so it reads well from a chair or sofa.
What does the face look like?
An aged cream dial with black Arabic numerals 1 to 12, a smaller 13 to 24 ring inside them, and exposed brass gears at the centre behind the hands.
Is there a matching wall clock?
The Vintage Gear Wall Clock uses the same exposed-gear idea at 80cm on the wall, and the Porthole Gear Wall Clock is a 70cm marine-styled version.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Keep damp cloths and cleaning sprays away from the antique brass finish and the aged dial.
Can I see it?
