Bedside Tables & Nightstands | Online8 New Zealand
The bedside table is the piece you touch most and think about least — it holds the lamp, the book, the glass of water, and it has to do that within whatever gap sits between your bed and the wall. Our range spans solid timber, painted finishes, industrial metal and cane detailing, from single-drawer compacts to three-drawer units with real storage.
Why It Stands Apart
Matched to Our Suites: Most ranges have coordinating bedroom furniture, so the pieces align exactly.
Solid Timber Options: NZ Pine, Acacia, Oak and Messmate, not just board and veneer.
1, 2 and 3-Drawer Configurations: Choose by how much you actually need to store.
Mostly Arrive Assembled: Most bedsides ship ready to place.
Sold Individually or as Pairs: Buy one for a single bed, two for a double or larger.
Choosing the Right Height
The rule of thumb
Match the bedside height to your mattress top, or sit slightly below it
Low bases (8cm legs)
Around 520–580mm suits most
Standard bases (15cm legs)
Around 600–660mm suits most
Tall or pillow-top beds
650mm and above
Width to allow
Most are 440–600mm — measure the gap beside your bed first
Frequently Asked Questions
What height should a bedside table be?
Ideally level with the top of your mattress or just below it, so you can reach a lamp or a glass without stretching up. Measure from the floor to the top of your made-up mattress, then choose within about 50mm of that figure — bed height varies a lot depending on base and mattress depth.
Are they sold singly or in pairs?
Individually unless the listing says otherwise, so you can buy one or two. Our bedroom suites include two as standard.
How many drawers do I need?
One drawer suits a compact room where the table is mainly a surface. Two is the common choice. Three gives genuine storage but usually means a taller, more substantial piece — worth checking against your bed height.
Can I match a bedside to furniture I already own?
Often yes, if it's from one of our ranges. Call us on 09-278-8881 with the range name and we'll tell you what's still available, or visit the showroom at 29 Charles Street, Papatoetoe, Monday to Saturday 10am–4pm.

About Dining Tables
How do I choose the right dining table?
When selecting a dining table, there are a few key factors to keep in mind. First, consider how many people will typically be seated at the table. For households of 4 to 6 people, a small dining table should be sufficient. For larger families of 10 or more, a table that is 2.8 meters or longer will likely be necessary. If your guest numbers tend to vary, an extension table could be the most practical choice.
Next, think about the size and shape of your dining area. Ideally, there should be at least 1 meter of space around the table to allow room for chairs and comfortable movement. Generally, a rectangular dining table suits a rectangular room best. If your space is more compact, a square or round table may be more suitable.
Lastly, take into account the colours and materials. It’s important for the dining table to complement the overall look of your space, including the dining chairs, flooring, and interior style. You can choose to match or contrast. Matching typically involves selecting similar colours and materials to those already in your décor, while contrasting means opting for a distinctly different tone or texture to create visual interest.
