An arched garden mirror 1680mm tall and 1000mm wide with an iron lattice overlay, in matt black. The detail that matters most is invisible: a plastic backing seals the silvering against moisture, which is the difference between an outdoor mirror and an indoor one put outside, where damp reaches the back of the glass and the silvering blackens from the edges in.
Why It Stands Apart
- Sealed plastic backing. Protects the silvering from moisture reaching the back of the glass, which is what actually destroys mirrors left outdoors.
- Iron lattice overlay. A window-pane grid across the glass that makes the mirror read as a garden gate or window opening rather than a panel on a wall.

How is it fixed outdoors?
Into structural framing rather than cladding alone, using corrosion-resistant screws suited to the surface. At 1680mm by 1000mm the wind loading on a solid panel is considerable, so this is not a job for light fixings, and it needs two people.
Where should an outdoor mirror not go?
Avoid positions in full direct sun, where a large mirror can concentrate light onto planting or paintwork, and avoid low positions where birds may fly into it. A shaded courtyard wall or fence is ideal, and it is also where the reflected greenery reads best.
How should it be cleaned outdoors?
Rinse loose grit off before wiping so nothing scratches the glass, then dry with a soft cloth. Wipe moisture off the frame rather than letting it sit along the lattice.
