Frequently Asked Questions

Should it be anchored to the wall?
Yes, we'd recommend it — particularly with young children in the house. At nearly 1200mm tall on a 450mm base, the weight shifts forward considerably when several drawers are open.

What is Messmate?
An Australian eucalypt hardwood with open grain and warm honey-to-brown tones. Much harder than pine, which matters on drawer fronts and a top surface that get handled every day.

How much wall space does it need?
950mm across and 450mm deep, plus room in front for the drawers to open fully.

Will the timber match the photographs?
Approximately. Messmate has strong natural grain variation, so expect differences in figure and tone between pieces — characteristic of solid hardwood rather than a fault.

The Consumer Guarantees Act sets out minimum standards for the products we sell.  We will repair or replace any product in accordance with the Act if that product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet the standards imposed by the Act.
If for any reason a replacement or repair cannot be done then a refund will be processed. 
 
Fair Trading Act 1986
 
The Fair Trading Act is designed to protect customers from being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including: pricing, where the product was made, where the product is from, the meeting of New Zealand safety standards, the availability of products in store and the sales techniques used.
 
Returning Defective Products
 
Products must be returned and inspected with proof of purchase before we will provide any repair, replacement or refund.
 
Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, we may repair, replace or refund any product that does not meet the standards set out in those Acts.
 
Any refund will be credited to the card used to purchase the product.
 
If you return a product that is not defective and complies with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
 
a.  The product will be returned to you at your expense and upon your payment of further shipping fees.
b.  The product will be disposed of after 30 days from receipt if we are not provided with further shipping fees and a return shipping address.
