Bronze is the unusual part. Ornate mirrors come in gold, silver, black and white almost without exception, and bronze sits in a different register from all of them — warmer than silver, quieter than gold, with enough depth to work against timber and leather rather than only against pale walls. The frame is composite over wood at 67mm deep, ornately worked and finished to look aged, with a bevelled edge to the glass.

Is this an antique?
No, and we would rather be direct about it. The mirror is brand new and deliberately finished to look aged. The wear in the bronze is applied at manufacture, so it arrives with the character of an old piece without being one — which also means it will not carry the value or the fragility of a genuine antique.

Is the glass itself antiqued?
The bevelled edge suggests clear glass with the ageing applied to the frame rather than the mirror, which is the usual construction. If a perfectly clear reflection is essential to you, call the showroom and we will confirm what is in front of us before you order.

How should it be fixed to the wall?
Into structural framing across more than one stud. At 1100 x 1500mm with a deep composite frame this carries real weight, and plasterboard anchors alone are not adequate. Check for wiring or pipework before drilling and lift it into place with two people.

How do I clean an ornate frame?
Dust with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which catches in the detailing. Apply glass cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying it, so nothing runs into the ornament. Avoid metal polish, which strips an applied finish rather than restoring it.

Can it go in a bathroom?
No. There is wood in the construction beneath the composite, and sustained humidity will eventually lift the finish and swell the substrate. Keep it to living areas, hallways and bedrooms.
