At 920 x 2000mm this is the compact way into a full-height ornate floor mirror. The rest of our antiqued ornate range runs to 1200 x 2200mm, which is a great deal of mirror for a normally proportioned room; this one gives you the same two-metre presence and the same aged silver finish in 280mm less width, which is often the difference between a piece that fits your wall and one that does not.

What is the frame made of?
Our records describe it two different ways — in one place as silver-plated metal, in another as composite and wood — and we would rather tell you that than pick one and risk being wrong. Call the showroom and we will confirm before you order. It matters for the weight, for the fixing, and for anywhere humid.

Is this an antique?
No. The mirror is brand new and deliberately finished to look aged, so the wear in the silver is applied at manufacture rather than acquired. It gives you the character without the fragility, but it is not and does not carry the value of a genuine antique.

Will it fit through my door?
Not upright. At 2000mm it is taller than a standard 1980mm door frame, so it has to be tilted and angled through every doorway on the route in. Measure hallway width, stair turns and ceiling height before ordering, and call us first if access is tight.

How do I stop it falling over?
Secure it, without exception. A mirror standing two metres tall has a very high centre of gravity and would fall hard enough to cause serious injury. Strap or bracket it into a wall stud, never into plasterboard alone. Never stand it on a rug or an uneven floor. Never place it where a door can swing into it. With children in the house it should not be left freestanding.

How do I clean the ornate detail?
A soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which catches in the patterning. Apply glass cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying it. Avoid metal polish, which will strip an applied finish rather than restore it.

What does it weigh?
More than our records state. The figure held against this product is a placeholder repeated across mirrors of very different sizes, so we have not published it — and with the frame material also unconfirmed, this is worth a phone call before you plan your fixing.
