Ayele Accent Mirror Large | Online8 New Zealand
At 1230mm across this is not a step up from the medium so much as a different proposition. A round mirror over a metre wide becomes the dominant object on any wall it goes on, and in reclaimed railway sleeper timber it has the mass to justify that — dense salvaged hardwood, 40mm thick, still carrying the bolt holes and weathering of decades under track. It is the piece you buy when you want one thing on the wall rather than several.
Why It Stands Apart
- Over a metre in diameter. At 1230mm it commands a wall on its own, where the 800mm version sits comfortably alongside other pieces.
- Genuinely reclaimed sleeper timber. Actually salvaged, not distressed to imitate it, so the marks are the record of a working life rather than a finish applied at manufacture.
- 40mm thick. Thicker in section than the medium, which the larger diameter needs — a thin frame at this width would look insubstantial.
- No two alike. Grain, colour and surface marking differ from piece to piece, so yours will not match the photograph exactly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should it be fixed to the wall?
Into structural framing, and this is not a fixing to improvise. A 1230mm round of dense reclaimed hardwood plus its glass is very heavy, and the load concentrates on a small number of points. Fix into studs, use hardware rated well above the mirror's weight, check for wiring and pipework first, and lift it into place with two people — a large round is awkward to hold and impossible to grip at the edges safely.
Will mine look like the photograph?
Not exactly. Reclaimed sleeper timber varies in colour, grain and marking from piece to piece. Call the showroom if a particular character matters to you and we will describe what is actually in stock.
Is there a smaller version?
Yes, at 800mm diameter. It is a considerably more modest piece — worth considering if 1230mm would overwhelm your wall.
Can it go in a bathroom?
A well-ventilated one, yes. The timber handles humidity well; the mirror backing is the limitation, so keep it away from direct shower spray and do not let water pool against the bottom edge.
What does it weigh?
Far more than our records state. The figure held against this product is a bulk-import placeholder and is a small fraction of the real weight of dense hardwood at this diameter. Call the showroom and get the actual number before you buy fixings — with this piece it genuinely matters.
