Ayele Accent Mirror Medium | Online8 New Zealand
The frame is made from reclaimed railway sleepers, and that is not a styling reference — it is genuinely salvaged timber that spent decades under track. Sleeper hardwood is chosen in the first place for density and resistance to weather, so by the time it becomes a mirror frame it is about as stable and hard-wearing as timber gets, and it carries the bolt holes, splits and grain movement of an actual working life. No two are the same, because no two sleepers were.
Why It Stands Apart
- Genuinely reclaimed sleeper timber. Salvaged rather than distressed to look salvaged, so the marks in the surface are the record of decades of use rather than an applied finish.
- Exceptionally dense hardwood. Sleepers are specified for load and weather resistance, which makes for a frame far harder and more dimensionally stable than most furniture timber.
- Every one differs. Grain, colour and surface marking vary from piece to piece, so what arrives will not be identical to the photograph.
- 800mm round at only 30mm deep. Substantial in diameter but slim in profile, so it reads as a heavy timber object without projecting off the wall.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will mine look like the photograph?
Not exactly, and that is the nature of the material. Reclaimed sleeper timber varies in colour, grain and surface marking from one piece to the next. If a particular look matters to you, call the showroom and we will describe or photograph the actual piece in stock before you commit.
Is there a larger version?
Yes. The Ayele is also made at 1230mm diameter, which is a substantially bigger piece rather than a slight step up.
Can it go in a bathroom?
A well-ventilated one, yes — the timber itself copes with humidity better than most. The limiting factor is not the frame but the mirror backing, so keep it well clear of direct shower spray and do not let water sit against the bottom edge.
How should it be fixed to the wall?
Into a stud. Sleeper timber is much denser than ordinary framing timber, so an 800mm round of it weighs considerably more than its size suggests — do not judge the fixing by appearance. Check for wiring before drilling.
What does it weigh?
Substantially more than our records state. The figure held against this product is a placeholder applied across a bulk supplier import, and it is well below what dense reclaimed hardwood and 800mm of glass actually weigh. Call the showroom and we will confirm before you choose fixings.
How is it delivered?
Shipping charges are available at checkout.
Can I see it?
