A square hangs on any wall. Into a stud where possible. Solid oak is heavier than it looks and a light picture hook is not adequate. Check for wiring before drilling, and take care to get it level — a square shows a lean more obviously than any other shape.

Can it go in a bathroom?
Only a well-ventilated one, and not near the shower. Sustained humidity will raise the grain of a solid timber frame and eventually work in behind the mirror backing.
