The darkest piece in the Clarence range, and the one that makes the strongest statement. Deep charcoal shagreen resin over slender black powder-coated legs reads almost monolithic from a distance, then resolves into fine pebbled texture up close. At 680mm it's the taller of the drawer pieces, which makes it a genuine bedside table rather than a low side table pressed into service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this real shagreen?
No. Shagreen traditionally refers to stingray or shark hide, but this is a resin finish worked to reproduce that fine pebbled texture — no animal products involved.

How does the Gaines differ from the Irving?
Same width and depth, and both have one drawer. The Gaines is 70mm taller and finished in charcoal; the Irving is pewter. Choose the Gaines for a bedside, the Irving beside seating.

Will the dark finish show dust?
Dark textured surfaces do show dust more than pale ones. A soft dry cloth handles it, and the pebbled texture hides fingerprints better than a smooth gloss would.

How do I clean the shagreen finish?
Wipe with a soft, barely damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which would flatten the pebbled texture over time.

The Consumer Guarantees Act sets out minimum standards for the products we sell.  We will repair or replace any product in accordance with the Act if that product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet the standards imposed by the Act.
If for any reason a replacement or repair cannot be done then a refund will be processed. 
 
Fair Trading Act 1986
 
The Fair Trading Act is designed to protect customers from being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including: pricing, where the product was made, where the product is from, the meeting of New Zealand safety standards, the availability of products in store and the sales techniques used.
 
Returning Defective Products
 
Products must be returned and inspected with proof of purchase before we will provide any repair, replacement or refund.
 
Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, we may repair, replace or refund any product that does not meet the standards set out in those Acts.
 
Any refund will be credited to the card used to purchase the product.
 
If you return a product that is not defective and complies with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
 
a.  The product will be returned to you at your expense and upon your payment of further shipping fees.
b.  The product will be disposed of after 30 days from receipt if we are not provided with further shipping fees and a return shipping address.
