Farmhouse Display Cabinet - Reclaimed Elm | Online8 New Zealand
Roughly 80 years in the making — this reclaimed elm display cabinet pairs genuinely salvaged timber with a single glass door, standing 2100mm tall and 1130mm wide. The elm carries its own colour and grain history, so the cabinet reads as a found piece rather than something off a production line, while the glazed front keeps ceramics, glassware and books on show and out of the dust. It arrives assembled, and because the timber is truly reclaimed, natural variation is expected, making every cabinet one of a kind.
Why It Stands Apart
- Reclaimed Timber (~80 years old): Genuinely salvaged elm throughout, with colour variation and character marks new wood can't imitate.
- Glass Door: Keeps contents visible and clean — the practical advantage a glazed cabinet has over open shelving.
- 2100mm of Height: Uses the vertical space most cabinetry leaves empty, turning a wall into proper display storage.
- Works Across Periods: The natural finish and farmhouse proportions suit a modern room, villa or cottage alike.
- One-of-a-Kind Character: Grain and colour variation make every cabinet genuinely unique.

Frequently Asked Questions
How old is the timber?
The elm is genuinely reclaimed and around 80 years old, so natural variation in colour, grain and marks is expected — it is what makes each cabinet unique.
Does it need to be anchored to the wall?
Yes. At 2100mm tall with a glazed door, anchoring is a safety measure rather than an optional extra. Fix into wall studs before loading, and keep the heaviest items on the lower shelves.
Will it fit through my doorway and under my ceiling?
Measure the route before ordering, as this cabinet ships assembled. It travels as a single 1130 × 450 × 2100mm piece. For ceilings, allow at least 2150mm of clear height, plus space to tilt it upright inside the room.
How should reclaimed elm be cared for?
Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep the cabinet out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades salvaged timber unevenly. Clean the glass separately with a standard glass cleaner rather than spraying across the timber.
How is it shipped?
