Almost every mirror at this scale locks you into a single orientation. The Madrid does not — the frame is finished and balanced on all four sides so it can hang portrait or landscape, which means one 1100 x 1850mm piece can run full-height beside a wardrobe or stretch out horizontally above a sideboard. When a mirror is nearly two metres on its long side, that flexibility is the difference between a piece that fits your room and one that dictates it.

• Designed for either orientation. Portrait and landscape are both intended uses rather than a workaround, so you can commit to the size without first committing to the wall.
• Black walnut veneer over a plywood core. Plywood stays flatter across an 1850mm span than solid timber, resisting the slow twist that pulls large mirrors out of true.
• An 80mm frame depth. The frame stands proud of the wall far enough to throw a shadow line, giving the mirror the presence of joinery rather than a flat panel.

How should it be fixed to the wall?
Into structural framing, spanning more than one stud. A mirror this size concentrates a great deal of load on its fixings and plasterboard anchors alone are not adequate. Mark your studs before drilling, check for wiring or pipework behind the fixing points, and use two people for the lift — the awkwardness of the span is a bigger hazard than the weight.

Can I lean it on the floor instead of hanging it?
Only if you secure it. An unsecured 1850mm mirror can be pulled over by a child, a pet or a knock. Never lean it on a rug or an uneven floor, and never where a door can swing into it. If you want the leaning look, fit a safety strap or bracket into a stud behind it.

Will it fit through a standard doorway?
Yes, but with little margin. At 1850mm it clears a standard 1980mm door frame upright with limited room to manoeuvre, so plan the route through the house before delivery and allow for tight corners and stair turns.

What does it weigh?
