A two-metre-wide oak cabinet standing 2200mm tall, combining solid oak with glazed sections and metal handles. This is storage at architectural scale, designed to take an entire wall of an office or living room and hold everything on it. Does it need to be anchored to the wall?
Yes, without exception. At 2200mm tall and 2000mm wide with glazed sections, this must be fixed into wall studs. Anchor at multiple points across the width rather than relying on a single fixing, and load the lower sections first.
Will it fit through my doorway and under my ceiling?
This needs measuring properly before you order. A 2200mm height leaves only about 200mm under a standard 2400mm ceiling, so check for light fittings, ceiling roses, bulkheads or a sloped run above where it will stand. You also need a clear, uninterrupted 2000mm of wall with no switches, window reveals or skirting returns breaking the line.
How should the oak be cared for?
Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades oak unevenly over time. Clean the glazed sections separately with a standard glass cleaner rather than spraying across the timber.
