Frequently Asked Questions

What is Messmate timber?
An Australian eucalypt hardwood with open grain and warm honey-to-light-brown tones. It's considerably harder than pine, so it resists dents and marks much better over time.

Will every piece look identical?
No. Messmate has pronounced grain variation, so each piece is individual — the pieces complement one another rather than matching exactly. That's characteristic of solid hardwood.

How much wall space do I need?
Beyond the bed at 1560 x 2070mm, allow 900mm for the tallboy at 1200mm tall, and 560mm for each bedside.

What's the difference between this and the Porter suite with the dresser?
This set has the tallboy — vertical drawer storage. The other version swaps it for a dressing table and mirror. Neither includes both.

The Consumer Guarantees Act sets out minimum standards for the products we sell.  We will repair or replace any product in accordance with the Act if that product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet the standards imposed by the Act.
If for any reason a replacement or repair cannot be done then a refund will be processed. 
 
Fair Trading Act 1986
 
The Fair Trading Act is designed to protect customers from being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including: pricing, where the product was made, where the product is from, the meeting of New Zealand safety standards, the availability of products in store and the sales techniques used.
 
Returning Defective Products
 
Products must be returned and inspected with proof of purchase before we will provide any repair, replacement or refund.
 
Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, we may repair, replace or refund any product that does not meet the standards set out in those Acts.
 
Any refund will be credited to the card used to purchase the product.
 
If you return a product that is not defective and complies with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
 
a.  The product will be returned to you at your expense and upon your payment of further shipping fees.
b.  The product will be disposed of after 30 days from receipt if we are not provided with further shipping fees and a return shipping address.
