Rapt Fabric Overlaid Painting Wall Art | Online8 New Zealand

Twisted fabric fixed to the canvas and painted black, radiating from a central point so the whole surface pulls inward like a drawn knot. 80 x 120cm, and it hangs either way up. This is closer to a relief sculpture than a painting — the material is genuinely three-dimensional, and the shadows between the folds do all the work.

Why It Stands Apart

  • Real fabric twisted and fixed to the canvas, then painted — physically three-dimensional, not a printed illusion of texture
  • Radiating composition draws the eye to the centre and gives a flat wall real depth
  • All black: the piece is read entirely through shadow
  • Hangs horizontally or vertically
  • Unlike anything else in the range — a genuine talking point

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it framed?
The supplier doesn't state a frame for this one. Call us on 09 278 8881 and we'll confirm how it is finished and how it hangs before you order.

Does it need special lighting?
It benefits enormously from a light angled across it. Flat front lighting loses most of the effect.

Can it be dusted?
Fabric relief will collect dust in the folds. A soft brush or a hairdryer on cool is the gentlest approach.

Is each piece the same?
No — the fabric is worked by hand, so every one differs.

Can I see it?
Please give our showroom a call at 09 278 8881 to check if this is on display.
