Most floor mirrors are leaners — they need a wall to work. This one comes with its own stand, so it holds itself upright and can be placed away from a wall entirely: angled into the corner of a bedroom, set beside a dressing table, or turned to catch the light from a window. Is it safe to leave freestanding?
Not without securing it. This is 1800mm tall on a comparatively narrow base, and a freestanding mirror at that height can be pulled over by a child climbing on it, by a dog, or by a knock from a vacuum cleaner. Strap or bracket it back into a stud wherever it will be left standing. Never stand it on a rug or a soft or uneven floor, which lets the base rock, and never where a door can swing into it. If there are young children in the house, treat securing it as compulsory rather than optional.
Why is the reflection soft rather than sharp?
The glass is deliberately antiqued. The aged silvering gives a muted, mottled reflection as part of the vintage look, so it will not return a crisp image.
Will it fit through a standard doorway?
At 1800mm it clears a standard 1980mm door frame upright, though not by much. Plan the route in before delivery, allow for corners and stair turns, and carry it with two people.
What does it weigh?
